Wipro Limited, a leading IT services company, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the Digital Transformation Solutions (DTS) business unit of HARMAN, a Samsung company, for a cash consideration of up to $375 million, including earn-outs. This acquisition, announced on August 22, 2025, is a pivotal move for Wipro to strengthen its Engineering Research & Development (ER&D) service portfolio and expand its footprint in advanced digital engineering capabilities.
The DTS business unit, headquartered in Connecticut, USA, is a global provider of ER&D and IT services with a significant presence across 14 countries, including India, the United States, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Poland, and Germany. The unit reported consolidated revenues of $315 million in Calendar Year 2022, $308.2 million in Calendar Year 2023, and $314.5 million in Calendar Year 2024. Approximately 85% of its 2024 revenue was derived from services, with the remainder from products.
This acquisition will bring over 5,600 DTS employees, including key leadership, into Wipro’s fold. These employees are spread across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, and their integration is expected to bolster Wipro’s talent pool and delivery capabilities. DTS offers a comprehensive suite of services, including embedded software, digital engineering, design thinking, device engineering, cloud and infrastructure, data analytics and AI, enterprise automation, and customer experience solutions. The unit caters to diverse sectors such as industrial, consumer, hi-tech communication and software, and healthcare.
The strategic rationale behind this acquisition is to combine DTS’s high-touch service model with Wipro’s global scale and advanced technology ecosystem. This synergy is anticipated to provide clients with enhanced access to cutting-edge digital engineering and innovation capabilities, particularly in areas driven by artificial intelligence. The move aligns with Wipro’s ongoing strategy of growth through strategic acquisitions, following its 2024 takeover of U.S.-based Aggne Global in the insurance tech sector and the $1.45 billion acquisition of management consultancy Capco in 2021.
