Sarvam AI Unveils Samvaad: Conversational AI Agents Now Live on WhatsApp in 11 Indian Languages

TLDR: Sarvam AI has launched ‘Sarvam Samvaad,’ a multilingual conversational AI platform enabling businesses to deploy AI agents on WhatsApp and other channels in 11 Indian languages. This initiative aims to enhance customer engagement through natural, human-like interactions, offering features like real-time insights and rapid deployment. Samvaad is part of Sarvam AI’s broader efforts, including Sarvam-Translate and Sarvam-M, to make generative AI accessible across India and contribute to the IndiaAI Mission.

Bengaluru-based AI startup Sarvam AI has officially rolled out its ‘Sarvam Samvaad’ platform, introducing conversational AI agents capable of interacting in 11 major Indian languages across various channels, including WhatsApp. This strategic launch is set to revolutionize customer engagement for Indian enterprises by providing localized, intelligent automation solutions.

Sarvam Samvaad is designed to empower businesses to build, test, and deploy AI agents that understand and communicate with human-like fluency. The platform supports seamless interactions via telephone, WhatsApp (including chat, messages, voice notes, and voice calls with support for Indic languages and romanized scripts), web, Android, and iOS applications. Key features of Samvaad include its ability to accurately interpret complex phrases, alphanumerics, and proper nouns, alongside delivering real-time conversational insights for continuous optimization.

One of the significant advantages highlighted by Sarvam AI is the platform’s scalability and rapid deployment capabilities. Enterprises can transition from pilot projects to full-scale, production-ready deployments in a matter of days, thanks to customized pricing models tailored for the Indian market. Several leading Indian companies are already leveraging Samvaad at scale to enhance their customer support, lead qualification, and onboarding processes.

This launch is a continuation of Sarvam AI’s ambitious vision to make generative AI accessible across India. The company, founded in July 2023 by Vivek Raghavan and Pratyush Kumar, has been at the forefront of India’s AI landscape. Prior to Samvaad, Sarvam introduced ‘Sarvam-Translate,’ an open-weight translation model fine-tuned on Gemma3-4B-IT, which supports 22 Indian languages and is optimized for long-form content, preserving structural integrity across various formats like LaTeX, HTML, and OCR documents.

Furthermore, Sarvam AI is a key player in the IndiaAI Mission, having been selected as one of the first startups to develop sovereign foundational Large Language Models (LLMs). Their ‘Sarvam-M,’ a 24-billion parameter hybrid language model built on Mistral Small, supports 10 Indian languages and is aimed at accelerating Indic AI research and development. The IndiaAI Mission has since expanded to include other startups like Soket AI, Gnani.ai, and Gan.AI in its foundational model development initiative, fostering a robust indigenous AI ecosystem. Rival AI firm Krutrim has also teased its own agentic AI assistant platform, ‘Kruti,’ indicating a burgeoning competitive landscape in the Indian AI sector.
